Two new T5s just completed. Features the Sweet 3-position gain switch, Weber signature 8F speaker, Mercury magnetics PT, 1/4″ speaker plug and jack, Amish made leather handle, NOS Brimar 5V4G rectifier, NOS Telefunken 12AX7, and Eurotubes tested and selected 6V6S-DM power tube. All of the good stuff so there’s no need for upgrades or mods. Vintage and beyond!

PreBS T5+ Lacquered Tweed

The 2nd new build from Tucson just shipped out! A PreBS T5+ in traditional lacquered tweed with oxblood grillcloth, BIG trannies from Mercury Magnetics for a 6L6 power tube, and 10″ Celestion G10 Gold speaker! Of course it has the 3-way gain switch and this is the first Sweet to have a “bedroom level” attenuator switch! Go from full power 8W to .8W with the flip of a switch. This amp is LOUD and the built in attenuator really makes it a more domestically friendly amp for the bedroom, studio, living room or wherever you got your rig set up. A solid 5F1 build with tonal options!

Another custom Sweet build just completed. This 5F1 champ build features Mercury Magnetics transformers, custom velvet grill cloth by artist Jeremiah Witting-Akiona, and of course my exclusive 3-way gain switch for more tonal variety. You’ll get the classic crunch and sag of a 50′s tweed Champ plus a cleaner/smoother setting(great for bouncy neck pickup tones) and an “over the top” setting for even more distortion and sustain. Vintage and beyond!

Another PreBS T5 collaboration with a custom cherrywood cab built by my dad. This one has a NOS 5V4G rectifier and an oversized 8 ohm Mercury Magnetics output transformer(many speaker choices) for 6L6 or EL34 power tube, and a 10″ Eminence Lil Buddy hemp cone speaker which compliments both clean and overdriven tones! As always, it features a 3-position gain switch for versatility and another super soft high quality handle from El Dorado. The undisputed King of Champs!

PreBS T5 Pair

I’m trying to build up an inventory of Sweet amps for demo purposes so here’s a couple of PreBS T5 combos to start things off. The alligator/cane combo features an 8″ Weber signature speaker and the Black w/Red Racing Stripe version has a 6″ Weber signature speaker. There will be a 10″ version too very soon for comparison demos. All PreBS T5s now feature my exclusive 3-way gain/character switch for a much more versatile and fun Champ style amp. The latest PreBS T5-6 just shipped out to http://brianhowardguitars.com/ and will hopefully be used to demo his hand crafted guitars and repairs. This one features a 6″ Jensen alnico speaker, NOS 5V4G rectifier, Jupiter coupling caps, and a 3 position rotary gain switch for more versatile practice/recording tonal options. The alligator Tolex and cane grill cloth are extra classy to boot! My new favorite color combo! Happy birthday Brian!

PreBS T5-6

These two PreBS T5 builds were inspired by a recent repair on Jeff Tweedy’s #1 1957 Fender Champ. They feature 6″ speakers as used in the early 50′s Champs. The smaller speaker gives an earlier breakup and distinctive growling roar which is great for recording and a whole lot of fun for practicing. The laquered tweed model features era correct Mercury Magnetics output transformer and Weber signature alnico speaker while the black with white racing stripe model has a Jensen alnico P-6V speaker and slightly stiffer filtering and a NOS 5V4 rectifier tube for a bit less sag. Both builds feature a 3-position gain switch which connects/disconnects the cathode cap in the pre-amp and the negative feedback from the output transformer to dial in just the right amount of harmonics and distortion. Sounds like a Marshall stack cranked but at a reasonable volume and much smaller package. Rock on!

Figured Harwood Cabinets

Just teamed up with my dad, who builds beautiful Shaker style furniture, to offer custom solid harwood cabinets as an upgrade to new Sweet builds. Pictured is a figured walnut PreBS 15 cab and a solid cherry PreBS 20 cab. Both finished with a hand rubbed custom oil/varnish mix. Polyurethane sprayed finish is also available if a glossy look is preffered. Baffle configuration and grill cloth style can be custom selected.
